Bayissa Negesa

Bayissa Negesa is a Ph.D. candidate in Social Anthropology at Addis Ababa University,Ethiopia. With over 15 years of work experience in different higher education institutions in Ethiopia, he published different journal articles. His work focuses on anthropological and other social sciences topics such as religion, indigenous knowledge, indigenous rituals, the Gadaa system, traditional material cultures, peacebuilding, and indigenous leadership. Beside his academic and research experiences, he has served as General Manager for Ethio Think Tank Group, one of the local civil society organizations. At Bule Hora University, held alternating positions as a department head, as a vice director of students service, as well as teachers association president. At Salale University where he is working now, served as a Dean for the College of Social Science and Humanities. In addition, he served as Master Trainer and Verification Officer in the sixth General Elections of Ethiopia with the Ntaional Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), as a Board Chairperson of Ethio Think Tank Group, and as a Master Trainer at the Ministry of Peace during the year 2021-2022. In addition, he is a certified trainer in Entrepreneurship from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of Ethiopia. Bayissa holds an MA degree in Social Anthropology from Addis Ababa University and BA degree in Anthropology from Gondar University, Ethiopia. His native language is Afan Oromo and he is fluent in English and Amharic. He is a powerful force in the workplace and uses his positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed.
